Dr. Crane was born in Newellton, Louisiana, and graduated from LSU in Baton Rouge in 1972. After working as a state health inspector, Dr. Crane attended the LSU School of Dentistry and graduated in 1977. He moved his office to Lafayette in 1992 after he originally opened one in his hometown.
He is a member of the American Dental Association®, the Louisiana Dental Association, the Acadiana District Dental Association, the Academy of General Dentistry, the Pierre Fauchard Academy, the American Orthodontic Society, the Academy of Laser Dentistry, and the Academy of Computerized Dentistry.
Dr. Crane enjoys boating, hunting, playing golf, anything LSU, working in his yard, and doting on his grandchildren. He has served on the board of directors of the Krewe of Triton as secretary, president, and, in 2010, captain. In this role, he was responsible for developing and coordinating the ball and tableau theme — “Once Upon a Time” — including decorations, float design, and costumes. In 2014, Dr. Crane was selected by the Krewe of Triton XXXIV to reign over their ball and tableau. Dr. Crane was also named 232-HELP Doctor of the Year in 2014.
Dr. Crane began the use of digital radiography to reduce the amount of radiation exposure to his patients in 1996. In 2003, he began using digital impression systems to provide Same Day dental restorations. In 2004, Dr. Crane became certified to perform LANAP (Laser Assisted New Attachment Procedure) gum treatments.
The Art and Science of Dentistry is constantly evolving. Dr. Crane believes in the value of continuing education for the benefit of our patients’ complete dental and oral health. As a member of the Academy of General Dentistry, he completed the requirements and became a Fellow of the Academy of General Dentistry in 1998. After an intensive program of study, treatment presentation and review by his peers involving all areas of dentistry, he received the Master of the Academy of General Dentistry recognition in 2004. Dr. Crane received the Academy of General Dentistry’s Lifelong Learning and Service Recognition award in 2024 at the Annual Meeting of the Academy of General Dentistry in Minneapolis, Minnesota. His commitment to Dentistry does not stop there.
He continues this commitment for his patients’ well-being through personal contact and on-line programs in all aspects of Dentistry, including advanced techniques for Same Day dental crowns and restorative treatment, LASER soft tissue and hard tissue treatment and Snoring treatment, Sleep Disorder diagnosis and treatment as well as the latest orthodontic clear aligner treatment offering dramatically reduced need for removing healthy tooth structure.
Ashley has been a dental assistant in Lafayette, Louisiana, for over nine years. She began her dental career in 2014 at Unitech Training Academy. After working for a while, she completed the expanded duties dental assistant course through the LSU Board of Dentistry in 2015 and is now recognized by the state as an expanded duties dental assistant (EDDA).
She is also certified in dental radiology, infection control, CPR, and Adult, Child, and Infant Basic Life Support (BLS). She often goes alongside Dr. Crane to continuing education classes to stay up to date on new technology and new techniques. She has been working with Dr. Crane for eight years and plans to work for many more.
Roxanne completed her dental assisting education at Southwest Dental Academy in Lafayette, Lousiana, in 2014. She also received certificates in dental radiology, infection control, universal precautions, CPR, and first aid. After beginning her dental assisting career, Roxanne then ventured on to take the expanded duty dental assistant course through the LSU School of Dentistry in 2016, and she is certified as an EDDA through the Louisiana State Board of Dentistry.
Roxanne has been with Dr. Crane since June 2017. She has been continuing her education with dental conferences and seminars to keep up to date with the latest technology and research. She enjoys working in this office where the patient is the top priority.
